Different Schengen consulates have different requirements for bank statements when you submit your Schengen visa application.

If you apply for French Schengen visa you need to provide the bank statement for last month. Let’s say you are submitting your visa application on 1 December – in this case you would need to bring November statement. It is the same rule for Portugal, the Netherlands, Latvia  Schengen visa application.

When you apply for Spanish, Swiss or Italian Schengen visa you are requested to take the bank statement that covers last full three months and it must show your salary being paid into.  The last transaction must not be older than 5-7 days for most Schengen visa applications.

Another important thing you need to know is this: the bank statement must show your full name and UK address. If you only do online banking you need to go to your local branch and ask them to post the original statement to you. It may take up to 5 working days to get the bank statements by post.
